College Month 2017

Oct 1, 2017

During October 2017, all six Manistee County High Schools will join over 330 Michigan High Schools in participating in Michigan College Month. For the fourth consecutive year, these high schools, in partnership with Launch Manistee, will be participating in events throughout October to promote a college going culture. Throughout the month, schools will schedule events to help support students and parents through the college application process. The goal of the initiative is to give each high school senior the opportunity to apply for college at any Michigan community college, independent colleges and universities, state universities, trade schools and vocational schools.   Each high school will work with its seniors to complete and submit at least one application by the end of October. School-wide activities include college representative visits, visits to colleges, teachers sharing their own college experience, scholarship and financial aid information, games and activities, and application completions.

An IPad mini, provided through the generosity of ExxonMobil and Blarney Castle Oil and Propane for the fourth year in a row, will be raffled off at each school for seniors who have completed an application.

In the prior three years over 95% of all Manistee County High School Seniors have participated.  In addition, many of the schools share their events with their entire school community.

Students and families are invited to review the 2016-17 College Application Guide to help prepare for the months’ events!
