Manistee Commitment Scholarship

Jun 21, 2017

In February 2016, Launch Manistee announced plans for a Manistee  Commitment Scholarship Program. The program was put together due to the generosity of Manistee residents Bill and Marty Paine, who are financially supporting it and through the coordination of Launch Manistee. It is also a joint effort of West Shore Community College, Manistee County Community Foundation (MCCF) and six local school districts: Manistee, Manistee Catholic, Bear Lake, Onekama, CASMAN and Kaleva Norman Dickson (Brethren).

The program promises a college education to 32 select Manistee County ninth graders who show academic promise and have financial need. In addition to receiving a full-tuition scholarship to West Shore Community College for up to three years and 60 credit hours, selected students and their families will benefit from complimentary programs that provide academic, social, and financial support.

Now heading into our second year, we have two cohorts of 32  students who were  nominated by their respective schools.  For more information about the program, please read the Manistee Commitment Scholarship program brochure

Save the Date: Our second Manistee Commitment Scholarship Program Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at West Shore Community College at 6:00 p.m. for our second cohort of students.
