For the third consecutive year, Manistee County High Schools, in partnership with Launch Manistee, will join with over 300 Michigan schools participating in events throughout October to promote a college going culture. Throughout the month and specifically during the week of October 24th, schools will schedule events to help support students and parents through the college application process. The goal of the initiative is to give each high school senior the opportunity to apply for college at any Michigan community college, independent colleges and universities, state universities, trade schools and vocational schools. Each high school will work with its seniors to complete and submit at least one college application by the end of October. School-wide events include college representative visits, visits to colleges, teachers sharing their own college experience, scholarship and financial aid information, games and activities, and college application completions. An IPad mini, provided through the generosity of ExxonMobil and Blarney Castle Oil and Propane for the third year in a row, will be raffled off at each school for seniors who have completed an application.
In the prior two years over 93% of all Manistee County High School Seniors participated and an amazing 1076 college application were submitted.
Students and families are invited to review the 2016-17 College Application Guide to help prepare for the week’s events!
